CASTING CALL

Today we are promoting an exciting new casting call for the "Divergent Theatre Collective's" next theatrical show "Teenage Dick" set to be directed by Dan Graham, who was a member of 2021's Short + Sweet Diversity and inclusion programming team.



Teenage Dick is a darkly comic, smashed-up retelling of Richard III, Shakespeare's classic tale about the lust for power, Teenage Dick reimagines the most famous disabled character of all time as a high-school outsider in junior year: the deepest winter of his discontent. Written by Mike Lew Directed by Dan Graham Produced by Flight Path Theatre and Divergent Theatre Collective.


Characters:

Richard Gloucester – (m, 17) junior class secretary, slyly ambitious, has hemiplegia Barbara “Buck” Buckingham – (f, 17) his best friend, earnest, wheelchair user Elizabeth York – (f, 30s-40s) wry, well-meaning English teacher, kind of naïve Eddie Ivy – (m, 17) junior class president, football guy, kind of a dick Clarissa Duke – (f, 17) junior class vice president, Jesus-loving, overachiever Anne Margaret – (f, 17) big-hearted yet dark, dancer, formerly the most popular girl in the school


The play will have standard American accents.


Audition Dates and times: Saturday the 29th of April between 12-5pm

This production strongly encourages applicants who identify as living with a disability. The disability may differ from those specified in the cast list.

Aiming to cast actors who are 18+.


If you have time restrictions or for some reason cannot attend in person on Saturday the 29th of April between 12-5pm, please still apply and note this on your application and they can organise a self tape or alternative time.
